Swiped: The School that Banned Smartphones

Most of us can probably admit that we spend a lot of time glued to our smartphones. Let’s be honest in this day and age, they’re absolutely engrained into our day-to-day life, nearly everyone has one, and they never leave our sides (or hands)! But, phones aren’t quite the safety cushion they were 30 years ago. It’s no longer just a text, a phone call and maybe a game or two,  instead you now have many new risks being brought into your home all at a single swipe!

Now if you're a documentary fan or simply concerned about smartphones, we are here to tell you all you need to know about this brandnew two part documentary!

What’s Swiped: The School that Banned Smartphones about?

Matt and Emma Willis present this thought-provoking documentary and tackle this timely issue with a pioneering experiment to show the impact of smartphones on children’s behaviour. Joining up with The Stanway School in Colchester, they will both, alongside the school children, give up their smartphones completely for 21 days!

Over the course of three weeks, the experiment will see the pupils undergo a series of tests to see the true effects of smartphones on behaviour, attention and sleep. Using old video cameras to do diary entries, a selection of students will give day-by day accounts of how they are feeling.

Now the big question is, how will the group’s relationship to smartphones change and could the findings be a turning-point for the Government to suggest a nationwide ban on smartphones for children under 14 or 16?
