It’s been forty-four years since the first episode of this Jersey detective drama premiered and it’s still much-loved by many! Well in case you haven’t heard, Jim Bergerac is heading back to our screens in this refreshing modern-day reboot! Unlike the original, the plot will see one character-led mystery run across all six-episodes! And even if you’ve never watched the originals but you’re a crime drama lover then you absolutely cannot miss this show!

What is Bergerac about?

Bergerac follows Detective Jim Bergerac as he re-joins the police force, six months after the death of his wife. The plot will see him take on the case regarding the murder of the daughter-in-law of wealthy businessowner Arthur Wakefield (Philip Glenister). After being seen to publicly have a drinking problem, he finds the press close on his tail watching his every move, alongside his replacement Barney Crozier (Robert Gilbert) who is just waiting for him to make a mistake. Whilst tackling the mystery, Jim will also be trying to repair his relationship with his daughter and mother-in-law (Zoë Wanamaker) as well as healing himself. 

Who’s in it?

Damien Molony, known for his role as DS Jack Weston in the Channel 5 drama Suspects will take on the lead role as Jim Bergerac.

Philip Glenister is another actor with crime-drama experience, having previously started as DCI Gene Hunt in Life on Mars. He will be swapping his detective coat for a taste of the fine life as he places wealthy businessman Arthur Wakefield.

 Zoë Wanamaker, (nine-time Oliver Award nominee) known for her role as Madam Hooch in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone  will star as Jim’s mother-in-law, Charlie Hungerford.

Robert Gilbert known for his role in Ready Player One will star as Barney Crozier, Jim’s leave replacement.

Other notable cast are Sasha Behar, Timothy Renouf and Pippa Haywood.
